Black Friday Sale at Elements & Artifacts!

This year, I decided to roll out a holiday sale to thank all of you for your incredible support, thoughts, and feedback on my work. This is truly a labor of love, and a lot of thought, time, and work goes into each and every collection. I am constantly reinventing myself, learning, and delving into new conceptual territories. The response to my work is what keeps me going and allows me to continue doing something that I truly love.

I am offering a tiered sale:

On Black Friday, Nov 27th, take 20% OFF your order.

From Nov 28th through Dec 31st, take 10% OFF your order.

To take part in this sale, please place YULE09 in the message to seller box. Complete the Check Out process, but WAIT to send PayPal. I will send you an adjusted invoice very shortly. The date the transaction hits my inbox will determine your discount amount, so do not fear if I do not answer with your invoice right away. The Black Friday 20% will end at 11:59PM Pacific Time on Friday, November 27th. Please pay promptly for your 20% discount; on December 1st I will move unpaid Black Friday transactions to the 10% tier.

All Black Friday sales will begin shipping on Monday, November 30th and Tuesday, December 1st. Priority and Express shipping upgrades are available by request right up to the last shipping day before Christmas. New snowflake pendants and new peppermint ornament earrings will be added over the next week or two.

Much thanks to every single one of you, and wishing you a warm and happy holidays and a lovely new year!

Have You Been Naughty or Nice?

A recent art project of mine:

Make your plea, or let the dirty denizens of Black Phoenix Trading Post decide for you!

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab and Black Phoenix Trading Post have released their 2009 Naughty or Nice Inquisition for which I have created the artwork! Enter a plea and receive a Naughty or a Nice t-shirt plus a corresponding perfume oil. This year they are even including a miniature stocking stuffed with random silliness and an Imp's Ear vial of a scented perfume oil such as Trinket, Tchotchkie, Knick Knack, or Spare Change.

Images in this post are respectfully swiped from the BPTP website. Oops. Does that mean I should plea for the Naughty tee? ;)

CLICK HERE to visit the Inquisition page at Black Phoenix Trading Post! Beth has done it again!

Special Elements & Artifacts Announcement!

Introducing a new signature style for Elements & Artifacts: ornate wire wrapping!

Viewing the body of my work over the years, it is easy to see a slow evolution in my art and jewelry designs. Reinventing myself is part of my creative process and something that is integral to my inspiration and growth as artist.

This year, I took a big jump with my art when I bought an Intuos4 tablet and began the process of learning to draw on something other than paper or canvas. It has added a new dimension to my skills and has bridged the gap between traditional fine art and graphic design.

This year, I finally chose to take a bigger jump than usual in my jewelry, and my workspace is now equipped with a bench block and various other tools for hammering and wrapping and oxidizing wire. I've been interested in learning these things for years and I am devoted to learning the techniques that will allow me to make my own mark.

This new metal and wire work can be viewed as another facet to my creations at Elements & Artifacts, and I hope these techniques will be a tool that will add depth and variety while also setting my work apart from similar jewelry artists and followers. The more I expand, the more I am able to articulate my concepts and inspirations so that the feeling or emotion behind something is communicated to you as the viewer. That is my ultimate goal as an artist as I continue to explore what my heart and mind conjure.

Here's to growth and change, exciting new offerings, and a new signature style for Elements & Artifacts! 2010 is going to be a good one while I work to fully claim this new venture. :)

Yule Jewelry Collection 2009

Support artists and creative craftspeople. Buy handmade this holiday season!

Elements & Artifacts is pleased to announce the final jewelry collection of the year: Yule! Glittering rubies, emeralds, and sapphires are featured in everything from silver bells to tinsel, with frosted silver branches and leaves, hellebores, snowberries, Yule queens, The Nutcracker, winter storms, northern lights, Winternights, and more. Enjoy!

A few quick details:

• If you want something that has been sold, please ask! Many items in my Yule update can be re-made without having to wait for new supplies, which means it is still very likely to get to you before December 25th.

• I am offering gift certificates by request, and rush shipping is available as we get closer to the bulk of the holidays. Priority Mail upgrades are available by convo at any time, and I am willing to do Express Mail overnight through to the final shipping day before Christmas. Please use your own discretion when selecting a shipping method as I cannot guarantee package arrivals for anything other than Overnight shipped by the morning of December 23rd.

• Custom orders and requests are always welcome. If it is past my November 15th holiday commissions deadline, I cannot guarantee arrival by Christmas, but in many cases it is still possible to get things in time. I will be quoting the turnaround time for custom work on a case-by-case basis.

• I have included many affordable stocking stuffer earrings in this update! As a fun bonus, the first ten Yule orders I receive will have a FREE pair of peppermint globe earrings added to their package!

Wanton Voluptuousness

I just barely got my hands on these bottles for which I designed the labels! Black Phoenix Trading Post released a Limited Edition series of Lucy Westenra offerings for Halloween.

OCEANS OF LOVE AND MILLIONS OF KISSES (Bath Oil)
Why can't they let a girl marry three men, or as many as want her, and save all this trouble?

Orange blossom and honey.

LUCY'S BOUDOIR (Room Spray)
Rose water and lavender with stargazer lily, white carnation, bois de rose, white iris, violet, and honey.

LUCY IN DARKNESS (Room Spray)
Denn die Todten reiten Schnell. Black opium poppy, laudanum, blood, and a chaplet of garlic flowers.

LUCY, KISSED (Perfume Oil)
Diabolical voluptuousness, a siren song from the grave: juniper and yew brushing against blackened violets and funeral roses, red musk and hot blood, veined white marble and icy, brittle musk, all pulsing with the sinister, hypnotic scent of patchouli, amber, oude, and cubeb.

I think, by far, my favorite is the Lucy's Budoir spray, but the perfume and the bath oil are tied for second. It is a lovely, dark, and artistic offering, and the label creation was very enjoyable. :)

Commission

Sometimes a commission comes along that really captures me, and this is one of those times.

I was asked to make a cuff bracelet out of a viola bridge that had been replaced after about 16 years of use. An object like that can become symbolic in so many ways, representing the love and pain of her art and the work that went into creating all of that music.

She requested that this piece be fairly minimal, so I went with a smooth black chap leather and a blackened snap, then I wired the bridge to the cuff with a darkened oxidized silver wire.

I enjoy all of my collaborations, but this one was such a personal piece and very different from what I usually create, and I am honored to have been able to help her with it.
